I am a notorious user of ‘and/or’ specifically for the reasons Silverman mentions in this article (see link). Quick, recommended reading.
According to the book Good to Great, executive compensation does not drive success or greatness (shocker - note my sarcasm), Collins breaks down the, “factors that didn’t matter in great companies: executive compensation and Technology.” He later elaborates on the technology influence as, “never primary in igniting good to great transformation.”
Another interesting note along those lines, Collins admits that companies shouldn’t have to focus on how to motivate employees. “Great companies paid scant attention to motivating employees.” Lesson here: if your employees aren’t already motivated and empowered about their job at your company, you may have gotten the “wrong people on the bus….”
