About

I read a lot. I write a lot.
Subsequently, I think a lot about what I read & write
Now these notes are going live on the world wide web.
I like to think of it as 'plunging' the cr** out of news media, gathering facts and making occassional predictions (that are correct 97.8% of the time)

» 10 Business Words to Ban - David Silverman

I am a notorious user of ‘and/or’ specifically for the reasons Silverman mentions in this article (see link).  Quick, recommended reading.

Executive Compensation Driving Greatness? Not quite…

According to the book Good to Great, executive compensation does not drive success or greatness (shocker - note my sarcasm), Collins breaks down the, “factors that didn’t matter in great companies: executive compensation and Technology.” He later elaborates on the technology influence as, “never primary in igniting good to great transformation.”

Another interesting note along those lines, Collins admits that companies shouldn’t have to focus on how to motivate employees.  “Great companies paid scant attention to motivating employees.”  Lesson here: if your employees aren’t already motivated and empowered about their job at your company, you may have gotten the “wrong people on the bus….”
